# Generating a Table of Contents

1. To generate a Table of Contents during export, check the **Generate Table of Contents** section in the  **Export Profile** dialog.
2. To add **Table of Contents** to your document, click on the switch to turn it on.

The following table lists the default and possible settings:

| Title             | Table of Contents | The title text of your Table of Contents.                                                                                |
| Max heading depth | 1                 | The maximum heading depth shown in the Table of Contents.                                                                |
| Display mode      | Flat              | <p>Flat - Has no spaces before the text.<br>Hierarchical - The different levels separated by spaces before the text.</p> |
