What's new for Advanced Content Navigator for Confluence
Last updated
As Atlassian recently introduced many new page types (in addition to Page and Blog), Confluence content become way more diverse, with many new potential to collaborate. Whiteboards have been there for almost a year, Databases have been acquired and released a few months later, Smart Links have been out for a few months, and Folders are in beta right now.
With the emergence of these new content types, we added these elements to the page tree to ensure you can stay in complete context while browsing your collaboration space.
From now the following content types can be filtered in the app:
Page
Whiteboard
Database
Smart Link
Folder
On Space Navigator, we added a new onboarding showcase with visual support and a link to the relevant documentation to help you understand what can be reached with ACNC. The new panel is opened automatically when some unseen content is available; later, it can be opened manually at any time.
We slightly reduced the indentation to make the app more compact horizontally. Now, it is easier to use in spaces with higher page depths.
When using Space Navigator to browse and search for content in multiple spaces, the resulting amount is displayed for every space.
Filter counters now show better results in edge cases
When a new space is selected, the filters automatically apply to that
Added support for changing the Owners
Fixed a few other small bugs
Performance has been improved when filtering
A new screen is available from the top bar (inside the Apps menu), where you can filter and overview multiple spaces together. Starred spaces are selected by default, but spaces can be removed and added. Waiting for your feedback on this!
A new integration is available on every screen, where you can read the latest improvements and send us feedback! Please use it since our team can't wait to improve the app as it is best for you!
A new filtering option, Label, has been added. Mark your pages, and you can quickly find them in the page tree!
When the version history panel is opened, unread pages are marked with bold to make it easier detect when you last visited the page.
By leveraging the new Page Assignee feature alongside the Page Status and Preview features, you can achieve a lightweight Jira-like work management experience while managing pages in Confluence. This can be handy for project-based, temporary, or cross-project teams, where the goal is often to upload content to Confluence, such as marketing campaigns or small project collaborations, without setting up a new project in Jira.
ACNC has introduced a new term: Page Assignee. Similar to Jira, each page can now have exactly one assignee. The assignee can be viewed and modified in the page tree view. This feature is enabled by default but can be changed and turned off in the macro settings while editing the page and the macro.
Read more about Assignee on this page:
Page Owners can be shown and changed in the page tree view. This feature is disabled by default and can be turned on alone or together with the page assignee in the macro settings while editing the page.
Only the current Owner, Confluence, and space admins can transfer ownership of your page to another user.
Read more about the Owner on this page:
When you keep your page open in Confluence (with ACNC inserted), sometimes you need to refresh the page to load newly created pages and updates made by others. From now on, you can refresh the macro data only. This will save you time and prevent you from losing focus.
Added the following small, Quality of Life improvements to Filtering
Assignee & Page Owner is added as filtering criteria
The selected filter option can be unselected by clicking on it again (also clear button works)
Open-ended dates are available; it is possible to select only from or to dates to find pages before or after a specific time
When filters are cleared, the latest saved tree state is loaded (no unnecessary pages opened)
Filter bar state (opened/closed) is saved
From now on, you can save a view when you are the Page Owner or Space Administrator where the macro is inserted.
Advanced filtering feature available on every screen: macro, space page, and modal.
With Filtering, you can quickly search for or hide unwanted pages. Filter by
Page title
Changes (updated or unread)
Created date
Last updated date
Page status
The filtered tree can be saved to create a customized view of your page tree.
Last year, we focused on features a lot; now it was time to focus on performance! The team has implemented several improvements under the hood, which caused major improvements in user experience and resulted a way faster loading speed. This can be noticed especially when loading spaces with over a hundred, or even thousand pages.
Better performance can be observed at the loading time of
Macro tree
Page Statuses
Unread changes
Page Emojis
Preview
As Atlassian made it possible, we added the app logo and category for every location.
Open a page preview from the macro, not only from the space page. Preview is a quick way to peek into a page, while not rendering all the images, macros, etc. To open a page in new tab, click on page title in the macro or the popup.
Page parents can be changed by drag'n dropping the page on a new parent.
Quickly rename a page from the macro or space page.
Create a child page from the macro tree. So that you won't need to leave the page you working on.
Added the Expand / Collapse feature to the space root on the space page. Now you can open your whole page tree with a single click!
When opening a modal from the content menu (...) on any page, it is now prettier, and easier to close!
The 3 major things we changed in the new UI:
The complete UI is refreshed
The Unread changes feature can be triggered with a button, and marked with purple
Prettier loading animations added
Since Dark theme came out, and its popularity increasing, we added support for Dark theme! Just like that!
When browsing pages, why not peeking them VERY quickly? Our preview provide lighning fast solution to preview pages side-by-side on the Space page. With all the speed the lack of completeness is coming in pairs: some content like emoticons, macros, attachments are not loaded completely. If you need the full content, just open the page (and stop calling it a Preview)!
On the Space page, new space level analytics has been added. It includes:
Page count, Attachment count
Number of Pages created
Top creators
Managing tasks in Confluence? Use the task panel to show tasks on the pages.
Macro header can be added in the edit menu. To make your work meaningful.
The macro literally even more fast paced than before! Especially page tree and breadcrumbs.
Sadly, pages under whiteboards are not accessible in the tree for now, because of API issues. So we gathered these pages in a separated section under the tree. Who creates pages under whiteboards anyways?
Additional settings available for all ACNC macros. Macros can be edited in Edit page mode, by clicking on the edit button
ACNC can be opened from the space sidebar, where the root element will be the Space itself. No need to insert the macro, reach any time.
Macro's content location is configurable from the macro settings. Select Parent space & Parent page, to make your macro display any starting location for your data. Multiple macros can be inserted to a single page, to help you creating actually useful Dashboard! Macro location can also be shown.
Macro's state (page tree & opened panels) can be saved by space administrators and page owners on the macro header. This is pretty useful when an experienced user want to prepare the starting state of the documentation for the end users.
Subpages can be bulk opened and closed in depth.
When a new macro inserted, the new default view includes the 1st child level opened. Note that default view can be overwritten by space admins and page owners.
By popular demand, Headins menu has been renamed to Table of Contents.
Badly formatted emojies are removed from Table of Contents.
We beleive the current and upcoming versions of ACNC (Advanced Content Navigator for Confluence) adds so many features to Confluence, so it become a real productive daily companion app for every day users. As we invest significant time and money into new features, we introduced a paid pricing model for this app. Stay tuned for new releases and features.
Did you know that you can set the status for any page in Confluence? Space suggestions or Custom user statuses, with our new release you can manage both! Edit page statuses from our macro, without opening or editing a page!

As 2 new colors emerging popularity nowdays
A new panel is accessible with the basic page details, scuch as page owner, last editor and last edit time.
Formerly pages and headings opened on the page, now they open in a new tab, to make navigation easier.
Added 2 new attributes:
Your data is yours. But you can share your app logs with us, which helps our development team to decide which feature is more popular, and which should be improved. We won't store your logs for a long time, and you can turn on/off your app logging any time. We only log usage statistics (eg.: which feature you use in our app), no personal and content related data (no space content or similar).
In the last few weeks the team forged () a lot with the app, to improve performance, extend functionality and make it easier to use - based on your feedback (thanks for everyone who contributed)!
ACNC can be opened from the action menu by pressing top right, and select Advanced Children Display. This page can be opened on any page, without editing or inserting the macro, and content will root from current page.
ACNC in a modal can be opened not just from the Actions menu, but with the shortcut of Shift + ACNC (Hold shift + type acnc). At least we think it is funny
Major code change happend under the hood which improved loading performance, especially in case of bigger space (1000+ pages). The expected performance improvement is around 70-80%, so the macro is actually pretty fast now
Based on latest trending movies, 2 new colors become popular nowdays. Which new color do you prefer?
Formerly unread pages counted slowly (in some cases took about a minute), now we improved things and even big spaces are loading within seconds!
We committed to deliver many new features to Advanced Content Navigator for Confluence. Our team fine tuned many things under the hood, to prepare our soon to coming major releases, with many new features. Stay tuned!
