# Migrating from Server/Data Center to Cloud

{% hint style="info" %}
Glass is designed to **not store any user data or custom settings in most cases**, therefore the migration to cloud is really simple.
{% endhint %}

### Snapshots <a href="#migratingfromserver-datacentertocloud-glassviewpermission" id="migratingfromserver-datacentertocloud-glassviewpermission"></a>

During cloud migration, project configuration changes a lot (Atlassian renames most schemes, groups, workflow details changes, etc.) Snapshots provide a powerful tool to compare configuration changes. Snapshots created On premise **can not** be imported into the Cloud app, but they **can be** **downloaded** any time **and uploaded** as a reference point in Comparison.

### Glass View Permission <a href="#migratingfromserver-datacentertocloud-glassviewpermission" id="migratingfromserver-datacentertocloud-glassviewpermission"></a>

To set the same permissions to Glass, grant [Glass View Permission ](/glass-documentation/user-guides/administration-guide/2-granting-permission.md)in the expected permission schemes on Cloud as a Jira Administrator.

### Limitations for Glass Cloud <a href="#migratingfromserver-datacentertocloud-limitationsforglasscloud" id="migratingfromserver-datacentertocloud-limitationsforglasscloud"></a>

There are few small limitations on the cloud version, [read more about them here](/glass-documentation/general-product-information/cloud-vs-on-premise.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.meta-inf.hu/glass-documentation/general-product-information/migrating-from-server-data-center-to-cloud.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
